Elizabethan beauty method.

Today we were taught a harmless Elizabethan makeup method. How to apply foundation creating that white cracked, not so flawless Elizabethan complexion!

We started off to prepare the skin. We then applied a cream based foundation a shade or two fairer then our models skin tone. We then beat  the egg whites together so the consistency was not soo gloppy. I then applied a layer or three of egg whites to the skin. Surprisingly this appeared to give the skin a dewy healthy glow! The eggs acted as a primer to set the base. The egg whites made the skin feel all tight and you could not even smile with it on perhaps the Elizabethans answer to botox. Once the egg whites dried I then added some white paint powder into the egg whites and mixed until it became a paste like consistency. Then thinly applied with my flat foundation brush, this began to cause noticeable strokes in the skin. So to really make the base look as flawless as possible you would really have to build it up, and use as less strokes as possible! Once the base dried it began to crack around the mouth and eyes making the skin look verydehydrated and old! For a theatrical look I felt it would look great.

This was when the egg paste was just applied. As you can see the base has been applied lightly here. You are able to see the brush strokes and some skin! I did not get the chance to complete the look as time was running out. I will however create a full look in the mere future.
Here is a before picture. As you can see her base is fair, with slight contour on the cheeks.
